“Every Man must pay a price for redemption…this is yours.”—Ahura Mazda
“Power is nothing without balance; two must become one.”—Ahriman
His voice pitched, then deepened as he said, “We all have darkness inside us.” He cleared his throat, coughed once and then continued. “But it doesn’t have to define us,” said Reverend Floyd. Drew shook his head and rolled his eyes then replied, “It’s too late for me, Father; I made my choice a long time ago.” Drew scoffed. Reverend Floyd reached forward and placed one hand atop Drew’s shoulder and told him confidently, “It’s never too late.” Reverend Floyd smiled then lowered his arm to his side. “It is up to you to determine who and what you become.”
It was then that fragments of Drew’s past began to resurface, and a disturbing picture emerged: a man who once loved deeply, fought fiercely, and who would do anything to protect the people he cared about had died a long time ago. Surprisingly, it was in that moment that Drew finally came to understand what Reverend Floyd had been trying to tell him all along.
Reliving his past, Drew was haunted and terrorized by memories he longed to forget. Yet, strangely with the memories flooding back, Drew was simultaneously overcome by an unknown force which compelled him to pursue a journey which had no known destination for reasons which he feared he may never come to fully understand. Still, Drew knew the only way to find redemption was to go back to where it all began. He knew that he would have to confront the darkness in a battle to the death if he hoped to “free the light”; he would have to harness this great power or be doomed to forever live in the shadow of “the old me.”
At the center of it all is Amber. Yet, who was Amber, and what was her part in Drew’s story? Somehow, Amber knew without knowing exactly what Drew needed in order to win an unwinnable fight. Yet, Drew in his arrogance believed that the answer could not be so simple. However, Drew was about to find out… that sometimes our greatest strength is found in the most unexpected of places.
And this, my friends, is where our story begins…
“He found what most of us never will — his purpose.”—Reverend Floyd
